I am a second year student at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. For the past semester I have been reading your Sociology (8th ed) for my Intro to Sociology class 160. I have taken other courses where I have learned a little about sociology, like my Human Relation courses, but I have learned so much from your book in a different way. It really does a great job of teaching the material in a non-threatening and unbiased way. The book gives both sides and opinions to theories and other material. The critical thinking, pictures and real life stories are WONDERFUL through out the book. I have enjoyed learning about the material in this book more than many of my other text books. I have never even thought of writing to any author before, but this book really meant a lot to me by teaching me in a way most text books don't. Your European edition, "Sociology - A Global Introduction", is very easy to read and very understandable, and has been very helpful so far. There are Americans living in my building in Galway and one day one of them came into my room, saw the book on my desk and said "Cool! John Macionis! He's a professor in my college!". I thought that was kinda cool.

I am a community college student currently attending an Introductory Sociology Class. I am very pleased with the content and layout of the textbook that we are using for the class. It is "Sociology: The Student Media Version" 7\e. The content is very clear and consistent. I am also enjoying the course immensely. Being a Forensic Psych and Juvenile Corrections Major, Sociology is a very important part of my curriculum. I find myself finding a vast amount of information in the textbook pertaining to my major. Being a person who also works in a college textbook store, I feel the book is well worth the price. It is definitely a keeper too. It will be an excellent reference text to add to my library. While there I ventured up to Lahore, and there, at an out-door book market, I saw the Sociology text you write that we used my Sophomore year. I think that you have a great Web site. It really helps me when it comes time to take my weekly quizzes. I have been having a real problem within the last few weeks, though. For some reason it has been taking a long time to grade the tests, and then most of the time, the time runs out so they don't get graded. I don't know if there is any way to correct the problem, but I thought you might want to know. I am also taking Psychology this semester and I really wish their Web site was as helpful as yours.
